DPF/GPF Assessment & Cleaning includes a Free Follow Up Appointment with a DPF Specialist
At AJ Fleetcare, we carry out an assessment and tests on many components of the vehicle before carrying out any DPF/GPF Cleaning. This allows the Technician to find root cause(s) of the problem.
After the assessment if your vehicle needs a DPF/GPF clean we will carry out a full clean of the DPF/GPF. If any components are found to be causing the DPF/GPF to malfunction we will address this with yourselves before carrying out any DPF/GPF clean.

What is a DPF/GPF?
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF for Petrol Vehicles) an essential component of a modern diesel/petrol engine's exhaust system. It helps reduce harmful emissions by trapping soot and particulate matter produced during combustion. Over time, these particles accumulate in the filter, which can lead to a reduction in engine performance and fuel efficiency.

Cleaning the DPF/GPF is necessary to ensure it continues to function effectively. The build-up of soot can cause the filter to become clogged, leading to increased backpressure in the exhaust system. This can result in the engine struggling to expel exhaust gases, leading to poor engine performance, increased fuel consumption, or even engine failure.

There are two main methods of cleaning:
1. Self-Regeneration: This happens automatically when the vehicle is up to temperature and driven at 60-70mph consistently for roughly 18miles. The exhaust temperature increases, burning off the soot accumulated in the DPF./GPF

We don’t recommend forcing regeneration by diagnostic method as this can result damaging the DPF/GPF by the means of thermal overload and it doesn’t fix the problem. Due to this most manufactures are no longer using this method.

2. Chemical Cleaning: At AJ Fleetcare we clean the DPF/GPF whilst it is on the vehicle with specialised world class JLM Chemicals that break down the accumulated soot, ash and other particles within the filter. Chemical Cleaning a DPF/GPF is a friendly and safe process with outstanding results. We then follow this procedure with an extended road test whilst recording the vehicles data to ensure it is doing its own Self-Regeneration.

It is also important to use the correct cleaning products and methods, as improper cleaning can potentially damage the filter or lead to less efficient performance. We carry out this type of work to ensure the process is done correctly. Which saves the customer time and money!.

Lastly, we will invite you back for a FREE follow up (after approximately 500miles) to ensure the vehicle is still maintaining its own regeneration process and the DPF/GPF is healthy.
